Location: San Francisco, California

One of the things that make the San Francisco bay area so dynamic is the concentration of people doing very interesting things. Yesterday, I wrote about a startup in the business of ride sharing. Still on this topic, here is another that have been in this space for a number of years now. RelayRides, a neighborly ride sharing service, has been operating since 2009 out of San Francisco.

One problem that has been plaguing many urban cities in the world is finding constructive ways to put less cars on the road. RelayRides is one such service that aims at solving this problem by enabling a peer-to-peer car sharing service. RelayRides enables car owners to rent out their private cars to neighbors while their cars are not in use. RelayRides provides all the necessary insurance coverage, as well as technology to make the transaction safe, convenient and easy. With RelayRides, car owners can monetize their private cars by renting out to neighbors while idle, having the opportunity to make $4500 to $8000 per year.

Adopting RelayRides surely will help urban areas get to their target of fewer cars on the road, while giving the incentive for car owners to monetize one of their most valuable assets. To learn more about RelayRides, visit the website here.
